Those sorts of things are usually covered by a per diem payment, aren't
    they?

Well, like other, if it's entertainment then we can claim. If we're
simply working away on site then we can't.

Dunno about 'usually'. We only use a 'per diem' if someone's chosen to
stay with friends relatives or some other non-chargeable means. Normal
trips are expected to reimburse _everything_.

I don't like to take the piss so often don't charge for small stuff,
and especially 'late' drinks, cos I cba to get receipts for them when
I'm pissed, but I think that's fair enough. Of course, if it's still a
work function, like dinner and drinks with colleagues, I have no
    problem with charging for it.

not a problem for me - I just stick everything on the company CC, and
it'd be up to them to try and get the money off me if they think I've
    over-spent (this hasn't happened yet).

    Ditto.

Our lot are completely cool with pretty much anything on expenses[1].

[1] allegedly, one of the hotels we use in Paris will even supply an
escort to your room; this shows up on the tab as "extra pillow".

    The proper answer.

Other peoples time is your most valuable asset. Especially if
management are aware it is being wasted in Due Accordance with the

They will pay for a glass of beer or a half bottle of wine with your

I was told by a PM a few years ago that if I could get a receipt from
    a hooker, he'd approve it.

As others have stated only booze gets questioned normally. However my
expenses from Tokyo came back because I'd tried to shoehorn the excess
baggage charge on the way back in as "presentation material". I don't
think my boss was too pleased to find out that this included a new
digital camera and a PSP [1].

[1] Which is fantastic BTW, I bought it more out of curiosity than
    anything but it *rocks* [2].

[2] Esp as it only cost £122!

indeed. Given that the hotel I'm thinking off charges ~40 euros for a
continental breakfast, I suspect the "pillow" charge is fairly
    eye-watering.
