So, last years little misdemeanour has finally come round...

Got nabbed doing 78 on the westway, just before it goes up into the 50...

Now they want me to turn up in court as they want to take my licence away...

    so, questions,

    A) what penalty can I expect?

    B) Nayone managed to get out of this sitch?...

Arse arse arse. Bang goes 17years of claim and point free driving :-(

    Bugger.

There are a couple of cases going through the courts just now (mine
included) trying to get laser LT2020 evidence slung out (legal term) on
the grounds of dodgy equipment and operator error/lack of training.

I was going to offer a little ray of hope for you that one or more of
them succeeds, but I dunno the score on GATSOs.

Probably best to get an experienced traffic offence type of solicitor,
funds permitting. I'm sure there are people on here who have experience
    of these.

Your common or garden solicitor will probably just say cough up and face
it like a man (or was that my medical?) whereas one with experience
might know of ways to lessen the impact of it on your licence or wallet.

That's about the best advice as your only option is to minimise the
    potential sanction.

Obviously going in suited and booted; looking penitent; pointing out your
exemplary previous record and need for a licence as your livelihood
depends on it is going to be more effective than going in; dropping your
trousers and shouting "suck my cock".

    Probably.

  7. Sounds harsh, 28mph over, or was the "before it goes up" a limit like 30
    or 40?
IANATC, but, if you can expect a ban at a ton on the motorway, then it
follows that 30mph over the limit and your looking at a ban, wherever
    you are.
yep. But as others have said, your exemplary record should/might help.
When I got banned I already had six points on my licence.

    Good luck, whatever happens.

I'm fucking pleased as punch. I hope they tear your photocard up into tiny
pieces and shove it up yer fucking arse. As a speeding motorist,
irrespective of what vehicle you were driving, you deserve all you get.

Tough fucking shite bucko, I hope you get banned for at least a year.

I commend the good coppers that booked you.

  10. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Buster"
Nope; as a troll you lack credibility - there's too much of the wanker
that is the essential you still coming through.

I got done for the same, 78 just leaving a 50 zone on the motorway, they
offered me the choice of 3 points and a £60 fine or a visit to the
court. As they had me bang to rights I jumped at box #1.

Sorry I can't be more help than that.

I've a feeling the OP is in a worse position as he was caught doing 78
"before it goes up into the 50".

Yeah, but like I said in an earlier post, I'm seeing some soon so I
thought I might print this thread and show it to them. Get on their good
side by giving them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they'd reciprocate.

Yep, like 50 yards before it turns from a 40 to a 50... but were talking
about a triple carriageway here... Only hope is that I bank on the
clean licence bit, look very sorry, etc etc... Hopefully the
magistrates will know the bit of road and realise that I wasnt being a
reckles endagerment to life and limb, and treat me accordingly... Or
maybe theyll just look at the figures and take it away :(

  19. So that was 78 in a what then?
Might be no comparison, but I got a 3 month ban and 600 quid fine for
124 on an empty dual carriageway (70) one Sunday morning. It was 9
years ago mind. They used Vascar, which IIRC my solicitor checked had
had the relevant calibration done etc.

He got me to take pictures of the road to show how straight and void
of junctions it was - but it probably makes naff all difference.
