  1. With my daughters it was jam sandwiches in the video recorder
tipexing the dashboard of a new van because she didnt think it looked
clean and using polyfilla to fill the dogs arse up because it had a
    crack in it

  4. Worth checking it sometime - chances are it will bugger up just when you
need it most, as these things do. Normally the consumption is tiny, but
tiny over a long period of time does add up.

My kids are 28, 20, 18 and 16 and still they would ask before walking
into my workshop and then would be very careful what they touched. I
doubt any of them would dare to go within 6 feet of the toolchests
    uninvited

It's a bit unfair to keep the lad out of mine seeing as it also houses
his YZ85. Always asks before getting anything out of my tool boxes
though. In fact, these days, I sometimes have to ask him whether I can
borrow anything of his. He has quite an array now for working on his
Mountain Bike and the Yam, including a nice 3/8 drive socket set and a
very useful pair of right-angled needle nose pliers which were ideal for
getting a circlip out of the YZ250 master cylinder.

    People have to earn respect.

Heh that reminded me of something a long time ago. My house in Scotland was
somewhat out in the country. My tool cab was in a suitably locked up
    garage/workshop.

It was also wired into a 30amp circuit.

I misremeber myself, but why not.

I also use 30 Weight straight oil, on recommendation, but why not use
    20w50 ?

I would too, but it's where did this respect come from that botheres me.

I discovered that his mother was a fucking nutter who'd chase him and then
clobber **** out of him with a slipper for the merest hint of a skip up. I
have a feeling that affected him, but respect from fear alone isn't high on
my list of "Things to be remembered by".

At least I can say that I've never laid a hand on my lad (feet? that's
another story:) but he's got good manners and huge respect. What for I
    don't know, but he's got 'em ;)

I can't say I had much respect for my old man, but then again, he never did
    anything to earn it.

    1) Multigrades need the hot running of an engine, 20/50 is just 20
    in a compressor.
    2) Multigrades contain a lot of detergents and additives to clean
up combustion products, there is no combustion in a compressor.
    3) Multigrades rely on a fine paper filter to remove the contamination
that the detergents have picked up. A compressor, like a lawnmower
or stationary engine, does not have a filter so you need a straight
oil which allows contamination to sink to a layer of gunk in the
botton of the sump rather than cause wear by recirculating
suspended in the detergents of a multigrade.

  15. One of my SOBs still has a 12mm spanner in the exhaust from 20 years
ago. It's a stainless can so no chance of the end rotting off and
    liberating it.

When we have visitors, their favourite pastime is whacking the speaker
cones on my Mission speakers 'cos it makes a funny noise'

They'll make a funny noise if I spot them at it again.
