Good choice. For reference, a few years ago I was looking to replace the
Hoover WM we had killed in 14mths with something more reliable/long lived.
After some good advice from a few service engineers I know, we eventually
chose the AEG as I mentioned. The damn thing weighs 88kg as opposed the
sub-40kg of most of the others. If you have a look inside you can see why.
    They are massively over-engineered.
Apparently the design life is ~10yrs which means our hopushold should get
~3-4yrs out of it compared with the ~12-14mths for the cheaper brands.

Tucking fypical - the fucking drain hose won't reach the spigot on the
undersink pipework. The washing machine can't go anywhere else, and
the sink's gonna be a bit tricky to shift.

Can I just join it to another length of drain hose?[1,2]

The water input hose looks viable, which is nice.

[1] Plastic spigot type thingy, secured with gubile clips as ness.

[2] I know where there's a suitable length - attached to the old one
    they took away this morning.

You can join the pipe easily. But you need to keep one point of it higher
than the machine upper waterline or you will get siphoning.
Don't go too far though, as the pump has limitations on height/distance
