    Ummm...

I *think* I'm OK on this one.

If not, I obviously apologise unreservedly.

    For whatever it was.

He's sold that racebike that you used to "work" on. What's the new
    plan?

Ah - **** it. My 200SX got mercilessly thrashed, and I never, ever,
ever let it "cool down" before turning the engine off.

It was fine when I sold it, with 120k on the clock. Regularly,
    scrupulously maintained, though.

    Because.

A supercharger is a blower and a turbo is a, well, turbo.

Kitchen appliance- either a gas leak or a 'mysterious accident' with an
    electric hob.

That or chuck four grand at one of Cane's mates.

The Roots Blower Company was set up after the Roots brothers invented the
rotary blower in 1854. They didn't drive the thing with exhaust gasses.

I cane my turbo diesel on a daily basis and feed it occasional doses
of unleaded to jeep it running properly. Works well for me..

Yerbut, it's a reasonably modern design and probably had a pump
thingummy that kept oil flowing to the turbo's bearings after you switch
the engine off like my Audi does.

I do recall being a passenger in (I think, my memory is hazy) a turbo'd,
80's-vintage, Toyota Celica that had a sticker on the passenger-side
sunvisor that instructed one to allow the engine to idle for at least 30
    seconds before switching it off.

In fact, I have a vague recollection that there was an instruction to
the same effect in my mate's first generation Ford Escort RS Turbo.

Speaking of which, you're the man for this...

S3s. Do they go, sir? I'm thinking about picking one up next year, hopefully
around the time the new version comes out. If I go new, I get the new version,
if I go old, I'm hoping residuals may fall a bit.

But are they fun, sir? Are they worth every penny?

I have a specialist subject? Cool.
    Indeed they do.
Word is that they aren't actually going to let it out until November
'06. But then again, Audi have been pretty poor at sticking to
    deadlines on a few occasions...
If you've got the suggested £28k-ish asking price then absolutely go for
it. It'll be based upon the much raved-about new Golf GTi chassis
(although the Golf's styling is another matter) but will have *much*
more power out of the 2.0T engine and, of course, quattro.
I am expecting residuals on the old shape to drop like a rock when the
new one does appear and to see "Barry's" across the UK flog their 1st
    generation M3 lookalikes in droves.
    :-(
    Ho yerss.
Hmmm... tricky one to answer as I'm a tad biased.
    :)

They are very satisfying to drive not just 'cause they're very sure-
footed and also rather rapid but also because they are something of a Q-
car; most people don't give them a second glance (especially silver
ones...) and that's a good thing, IMO.

I test drove a Scooby WRX before getting mine and had a knob in an RS
Turbo come hooning up behind me within 5 minutes of leaving the dealer.

A cow-orker has a Golf V6 4-motion that he paid similar money for and
it's not a patch on the Audi in terms of handling; the steering is slow
(with a *giant* bus-like wheel...) and the ride is too wallowy for my
liking. Sure, it's quite quick and makes a nice noise, but I much prefer
    my S3.

The R32 is better than the V6 4-M, but still not as good through the
twisty stuff as the S3 due to the considerably larger chunk of whirring
metal it's lugging around up front. Same goes for the 3.2 engined A3s
    (Sportline, etc.).

You're not far from Fontain's, either. Give 'em a bell and see if they
    can convince you.
