Paging the Tom Tom users - map update

After getting in a bit of a tiz around South Queensferry I decided it
was high time I downloaded more up to date laps for my Tom Tom Rider.

So first I got the upgraded application and 'Tom Tom Home'. What a lot
of new features. Sticking the SD card in a card reader and setting up
routes etc. via the PC is neat.

Anyway, I was just about to bite the bullet and pay to get the latest
maps when I checked what was on offer. As far as I can see, you can now
only get a 2Gb version of the Western Europe maps. The two year plus old
ones I have now are only about 900 Mb. So am I right in thinking that if
I say yes please download the updated maps the 1Gb card I am currently
using is going to overflow (though hopefully the 'Home' software would
warn me that there isn't enough space).

I can obviously source a 2Gb card, clone it from my backup and then
update, but is that my only option (apart from coping with disappearing
roundabouts) ? All I really want is a current version of what I have
    now.

Hopefully, your software will be similar to the Garmin variant that I use.
Their European data now exceeds 2Gb. However, I can select map tiles on my
PC and leave out bits I'm not interested in e.g. if I leave out Scandinavia
and a few other bits I can get the rest onto a 2Gb card.

If your software is inferior to the Garmin variant then larger data cards
    are peanuts.

I could load in GB and France and switch, if I had opted for the
separate maps, but the pricing structure made Western Europe seem a
    better deal.
In that respect it seems. I like it otherwise so a bigger card it will
    be. Progress, innit?

  4. How much are TT charging for the download these days? Before I went to
the Ring I bought a brand new, sealed, pre-loaded SD card with W Euro
maps off ebay for about 20 notes cheaper than the download.

    In communiqué
39 quid, unless you go for the quarterly updates then it's less, but
7.50 for each quarterly update. How current were the maps?
