Paging the spelling police

How do you spell an abbreviation of I would have, as in I'd have. I want
to make it even shorter by calling it I'dve, but that doesn't look
right. Id've doesn't look right either.

That's one thing I like about the spanish lingo (I suspect french is
similar). That sort of "conditional" shit is built in. And of course,
they don´t generally use personal pronouns here, so the verb "tener"
would simply conjugate to "tendría" (I/he/she/it would have). I'm
obviously assuming you mean "To have" in the possesive sense, rather
than "To have done something" - that would be the verb "Haber" of course.

I just couldn't see how the conditional was 'built in' in French, that's
all...

 

Not the same as French, I think. For example, if you want to say "I
have a dog", then in French it'd be "J'ai un chien" whereas in Spanish,
it'd be "Tengo un perro". But even then, it's not wrong to say "Yo
tengo un perro" just not as common. I think.

Another example :

Il a les yeux bleus : Tiene los ojos azules.

I think I've got the spelling right.

 

"Conditional" - "I would/could etc." Look, I'm not a fucking "linguist"
like you. All this stuff is new to me. I can hardly speak english.

Hmm. Contrary to what you would appear to believe, I'm not trying to
'catch you out', and really, my Spanish is so crap that I couldn't catch
you out if I tried.

 

In French you do (I don't know enough Spanish to correct you), but you're
using the indicative; Paul cited the conditional, which isn't the same
thing. However, you are correct in that the pronoun is required in French.
