My car's down at the sparky's at the moment, whilst the tech sucks his

Meanwhile I have been surfing for TDi Disco's ... !!!

    Cheers,

If it's an older one, avoid the 200TDi engine (gutless pile of shite)
and make sure that it's the later 300TDi and that the cam belt housing
mod has been done (should be marked with square of yellow paint on the
aluminium housing), otherwise it will shred cambelts every 12.4 miles
and cost 500 quid to do the mod.

    Jesus......

I was going to offer a bottle of scotch or similar, but at those rates I
may as well risk doing the fucker myself ;-)

Hog made the world a better place for us by saying..
    what he said..

Diesel Discos are for people who can't afford petrol ones.

LPG ones are for people who aren't silly enough to want a diesel.

As someone who has had both - the Diesel is better for towing and
off-road use. The V8 is too refined for that these days.

you mean you're going to use an off roader off road?

    that's unusual...

    Nope ..

we have a Disco 300Tdi, by choice, but without all the electric doodah's and
it's better, by quite a way, than the V8 off-road, for towing, around town
and all other aspects of driving .. other than the noise and 'feel'.

IMHO the diesel works, the V8 is a great sound.

You seem to be ignoring faster A road passing. No way does the oil burner
    beat the V8.

Heheheh, granted. But then how many fast A-roads are actually straight for
far enough for _any_ Landrover to safely [1] overtake ...

Hustling round bends on decently fast A roads is _not_ a Landrover forte ..
    ;)

    [1] Not totally necessary I suppose ..

Yeh, it starts with the niggly things I find ... ;-)

On the upside the towbar electrics work better when the sidelight's
    not grounded !
