we have a Disco 300Tdi, by choice, but without all the electric doodah's and
it's better, by quite a way, than the V8 off-road, for towing, around town
and all other aspects of driving .. other than the noise and 'feel'.

IMHO the diesel works, the V8 is a great sound.

 

You seem to be ignoring faster A road passing. No way does the oil burner
beat the V8.
