IIRC it requires H&B rails (or mode to the stock rails)
I couldn't honestly say, though as I've not seen the larger boxes on the
earlier Ks I'd suspect not. That said, the suspend-it-in-mid-air
approach on the Boxer might give you the clearance (if clearance is the
    problem)

The H&B site lists 2 kinds - one for the full H&B kit, one for just a
    top box.
    Bugger.

Hmmm, back to finding a competent welder who can molish a rack from the
OEM BMW rack and a TRX850 Rentec rack....

How about one of those ridiculous backrests, sorry sissy bars, that the
yanks are so keen on fitting? I'm sure there must be a kit to fit the
    boxer

The other option would be a Corbin seat with a backrest. If she wants a
    backrest, get her a backrest.

Just did a quick search on that earlier - seems they usuall come from
    one of the saddle manufacturers.

I'd still like to get a reasonable top box on it - just for the extra
capacity as much as giving Katie a back rest.

I'm with TOG on this one - it's not that good an idea to put one on. The
boxers have a low CoG and putting on a top box works against that.

If Katie absolutely needs a back rest, get a Corbin seat and fit the
    optional back rest.

    That's a monolever with the later K-Series panniers. If yours isn't a
mono lever and has the earlier Krauser panniers, it's got completely
    different mountings.

I've seen big top boxes on K series bikes but they don't look right
and I'm not sure you wouldn't end up with either a cracked tail unit
or the rack falling off if you loaded one up with a lot of heavy shit.

I use a cheap 25l box on mine and I've never bothered putting a plate
on to level the box up but I only use it for small stuff that I want
to get at in a hurry so there's no risk of any damage. Burnt uses a
bigger top box on his bikes but he's downright agricultural and
probably has steel plates welded under the mounts.

Away man! those seats are really expensive and the top box comes up often
enough cheaply. It's a good backrest just don't load it up with weight.
Perfect for plastic oversuits, sunnies and that sort of thing.

Seems fair to me, you've got her box as a backrest...

If you go for it, budget for a trundle to WUN Engineering. We'll
bod^H^H^H custom make soemthing that'll work.

Yeah amazing what a man will do offer to do for a 3 minute blindfolded
    fondle of Katie's amazing tits.

Actually I have just such a top box here in the garage......

Interestingly, I've just spotted an R80RT mono on ebay with a Wingrack
    fitted.

That's a thought..... might pick up a cheap used Wingrack and see what
needs doing to molish it to the back of mine.
