As it goes up to damn near 300Kmh I'd say it was. The speedo is
    graduated in 20kmh increments

I'm getting worried here as I can't make out the numbers and I know
    about your eyesight.

I just noticed that it was only a single set of digits.

I have my reading specs on.
Speedos have either KM/H or MPH on the dial, if you look closely this
one has a slash between the second and third letter which says to me
    it's reading in KMH.

Plus there are clearly 14 increments. Even if you couldn't make out
they end in zero, which you can, you'd assume they would. So the
speedo reads up to 140 somethings or 280 somethings. As an ST 1050 has
a top speed of around 160 mph or 260 kph it's got to be kilometres.

Not only that, but it goes to three digits at the fifth mark, and has
km/h written at centre bottom of the dial.

I agree with Lozzo. The first few numbers look like 20, 40, 60. Even
if they were 10, 20, 30, then the point at which it changed from 90 to
100 (i.e. 2 digits to 3 digits) is in the wrong place.

Turns out that the picture of the clocks was "lifted off the 'net" and
is not of the actual bike.

Perhaps irrationally, that ends my interest in it.

Whilst this is clearly true in this instance, it's not always the
case. Our R36, and presumably other Passat models, has a speedo scale
that's almost logarithmic, with gradations initially at 10kph, then
moving out to 20kph, then 30kph intervals as the speed increases.
Takes a little getting used to.

WTF? I thought the usual point of including a picture of the clocks was
to demonstrate that the quoted mileage was accurate (which I don't think
    that showed anyway).
    Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

    Late entry: I also agree.

It seems to go to three digits at the start of the reflection, which
means it's in 20KPH steps and tops out at 290KPH.

Also, I thought that UK speedos had to have a second KPH set of
numbers; this one doesn't seem to.

Not only that, but the first blob of the "xPH" looks more like a K
    than an M.

Unless it starts at 10 or 30, which I don't think this one did.

Just where in the spec. did it state the
    graduations started at zero, hmmm?
