My dad had one - which I blagged and did more miles in than he did. The
engine has a single camshaft in the block acting directly on the side
exhaust valves and operating pushrods for the overhead inlet valves.
Smooth as silk. Front seats had individual armrests and the interior
    smelt like a gentlemen's club.

The straight 6 was considered a very nice engine and well up to the
job. The cylinder head design was done by Weslake.

That may be true, but it's not the one people will pay big money for.

Was owned by Countess de Vismes. It had been in the Chiltern Street car
park since she died six years ago, and was seized by Westminster
    Council after the payments stopped.

That's a very good reason why it isn't worth the current bidding on it.

Posh, but not famous owner doesn't add value.

Being abandoned for 6 years in an NCP means it'll be fucked.

Listen up, Ear, in some situations, B's are very important. This is one
    of them.

Just because the old dear had a title and the car got on TV or whatever
might make it's value go up today. But very soon people will have
forgotten all about it, at which point it becomes an old under-powered
Rover that will be a lot less desirable than it's V8 younger brother.

That said, having looked at the pics, with the exception of the tear in
the driver's seat, the interior looks in bloody good nick. Externally
there's the bird shit on the left wing and the chrome is in need of some
    love but that's about it.

The reverse problem will probably be the sensor switch in need of
    adjustment.

If it was half the price I'd have a punt - it would be nice to have an
    almost matching pair ;-)

I'm sure it was on the drive last time you visited. Perhaps it was the
excitement of nearly keeping up with the Harley that blurs your memory
    ;-)

You wouldn't have know at a glance, unless you spotted the Rostyle
    wheels instead of chromed hubcaps.

You're not confusing the P5B with the P5 Coupe, are you?

  16. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
    You got that right.

As someone up there ^^^ described, it has a cam acting directly on the
exhaust valves - sidevalves, ffs. The entire automotive world had
abandoned sidevalves by that point. The overhead inlet valves are
pushrod operated. Whooppee doo,,, new technology.

Somebody at Westlake sure had a brainstorm that day.
