Not by a mechanic hand rivetting each link thats for sure.

You'd think that after 35 years of camchain problems HONDA would have
    sorted it out by now...

Whether it's done by hand or machine, the end of the pin is peened over
in the same way. Soft-link chains are as good as factory rivetted
    endless ones if done correctly.

I liked the all black C3 with the black frame. I ended up with 2
    black/grey ones followed by a pink[1] one though. The cerise/silver C1
and purple C2 looked utterly gash.

In HONDAs[1] defence the CBR motor is nearly a 20 year old design and I
can't think of any modern Honda which has camchain problems.

[1] Why the shouting of the word HONDA?

The Metallic Orange / Blue one was the worst, IMO.

I was just going to say the CBR600, switching to a manual cam chain
adjuster helps a lot in these cases, although I can't see that being an
    option for the CBR1000.

One batch of C model cranks had poorly drilled oilways IIRC. It was
supposedly rectified on later models, but I know of a couple of D models
    that suffered the same thing.

Heh. Yeah, I think the standard drag car blow up is where the entire
head just leaves the rest of the block.
    Dunno. Maybe urban miff.

    <later than usual>
That'd be "heads", plural, rather than "head", singular.

Ackshirley, the more common thing in T/F, T/A, etc. is for the intake
manifold/blower assembly to be blown clear of the block...That's why
they're lashed-down/blanketed with ballistic material stuff these
    days...

You can make out the blower lifting off in this pic:

Here's some factoids for you shamelessly stolen from elsewhere:

Under full throttle, a Top Fueler consumes 1 1/2 gallons of nitromethane
per second, the same rate of consumption as a 747 but with 4 times the
    energy volume.

?The supercharger consumes more power then a stock Hemi 426 motor makes.

? Even with nearly 3000 CFM of air rammed in by the supercharger, the
fuel mixture is compressed into nearly-solid form before ignition.
Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock.

? Dual magnetos supply 44 amps to each park plug - enough power to weld
    with an arc welder.

? At stoichiometric (exact) 1.7:1 air/fuel mixture (for nitro), the
flame front of nitromethane is 7050 degrees F.

? Nitromethane burns yellow. The spectacular white flame seen above the
stacks at night is raw burning hydrogen, dissociated from atmospheric
water vapor by the searing exhaust gases.

? Spark plug electrodes are totally consumed during a pass. After half
track, the engine is dieseling from compression plus the exhaust valves
glowing at 1400 degrees F. The engine can only be shut down by cutting
    the fuel.

? If spark momentarily fails early in the run, unburned nitro builds up
in those cylinders and then explodes with a force that can blow cylinder
heads off the block in pieces or blow the block in half.

? A TF motor can twist the crank so far (up to 20 degrees) that
sometimes the cam lobes are ground offset from front to rear to re-phase
the valve timing in relation to the pistons.

? To exceed 300mph in 4.5-seconds, dragsters must accelerate at over
4G's. But in reaching 200mph well before half track, launch acceleration
    is closer to 8G's.

? Dragsters reach over 300 miles per hour before you have read this
    sentence.

? The redline of a TF engine is over 8000rpm yet it does only 540
    revolutions from light to light!

? The current TF dragster ET record for the quarter mile is 4.428
seconds. To put that into perspective, if an F1 car crossed the start
line doing 200mph (flying start), the dragster, from a dead stop, would
beat it to the quarter mile finish line!

    <snip>

So in 540 revolutions it drinks 6 gallons of fuel, eats 8 plugs[1],
twists a crank by 20 degrees and goes from standstill to 300MPH+...

That's the really scary part. At 300mph the edge of the tyre's going
from zero to 600mph then back to zero again hundreds of times a second.
