Nope, none at all. I think the reason they did it that way is that the
starter motor and alternator are behind the cylinder block so there's no
    space for an external tensioner.

Its fairly obvious one you take the cam cover off. But this site has some
    useful stuff.

  5. Hey nice site!

You're right, when you see it all like that there's really not much need
    for a manwell.

Would've been much better if they'd put the camchain at the end of the
    crank though.

I've got to stretch things a bit thin this month, next month will be
better as I'll have no bills to pay, only rent... that's if I can get
things sorted with the council quickly again, as I'm moving.

*ding* This would benefit so many bikes out there, well, more the people
    who maintain them.

.... and that too, although unless you have a hydraulic tensioner I
imagine oil circulation is not too much of an influence?

It takes less than a second or two to get oil circulation, it takes
minutes for the rattle of a too slack cam chain to quiet down, if it
    does at all.

Galea. You can either have them do the job for you or you can buy the
    camchain and do it yourself.

It was a fucking sight more than 3 or 4, I knew of at least 10 back in
the early 90s. It was specific to the early C models that were assembled
in USA. My first ZZR1100 C2 was a US built one and it was far better put
together than both my Japanese built ones[1].

    [1] Another identical black/grey '91 C2 and a '95 D2.

Yeah? I think I was told that mine was the second one in the country.
    I had a C2 (in purple!) and a D1 in black/grey. Couldn't discern any
difference in build quality in them (apart from one not exploding).

I should have mentioned that the bike was only two months old.
Christ yes. Can you imagine the energy in a conrod, nearly flat out?
I've told this before, but part of the conrod was left in the belly
pan. After I'd ridden the bike (on 3 cylinders) the couple of miles
to the dealers, I walked in, placed the piece of rod on the counter
and said "I'd like to make a complaint".
Across the frame fours in general, I think.

Did that the time I binned their loaner GSX750 - wandered up to the counter
with the back of one of the clocks in my hand:

    "It's about the loan bike."
    "Yes?"
    Beetles, too.

I was doing part-time work at our local Kawasaki dealership for a few
years, collecting bikes and doing easy mechanical work like whipping
wheels out for tyre changes and getting fairings off ready for servicing
    etc around this time.
Only you could have thought this acceptable.
The US built one had much better finish to it. The paint was better, the
levels of corrosion were lower, panels lined up better etc, plus it just
felt like it was superior in assembly terms. It's a hard thing to
describe, but you instantly know when something feels like someone's
taken the time and trouble to do a good job of making the thing in the
first place. Mileages were all about the same at one point in their time
with me, so I was able to judge one against the other.
