    The rack for the Triumph.
Does it attach directly onto the rear carrier by clips and such or are there
    fastenings involved?
If I need nuts and bolts etc I'll filch them from work before I go up to
Derby and the Black Horse so I can affix said lump of plastic to the bike
    for the journey home.
    Ta in advance..........

I suspect you have got the wrong end of the stick here. Have a look at
    this:

    http://www.kazior.de/gebraucht/Bilder/triumph/Trophy 900 seite.JPG

See the rack mounted behind the saddle? Standard Trophy rack, that.

*However*, that's not what you are getting from me. What I have in the shed
is one of these *topbox* efforts, which mounts on the Standard Trophy Rack:

    http://www.localriders.com/photopost/data/500/94902052523.jpg

It's British Racing Green (same as picture), has a very slight scuff in the
paint, and a small crack in the grey plastic bit by one of the hinges.
There are two keys with it, and a spotless one of these:

All of the above, as previously mentioned, costing you precisely zilch. If
this no longer meets your requirements, let us know before Friday and we can
save Matt a detour, and I'll either sling it on ebay or raffle it at the
    BOSM...

What I actually meant was does the *Topbox* mount on the rack using clips
    and stuff etc etc
Momentary lapse of concentration caused by lack of alkyhole !!

I blame lack of money meself

Oh and the pic of the Blue Trophy looks like mine minus the panniers.
So therefore the topbox will compliment the stuff already fitted after I
have *a man wot is good with painting*
re-colour it to the right tone.
    Many thanks again
Beer will flow in your direction when we next meet.

No. The topbox clamps itself onto the rack. There's a slidy catch thing
with a lock, that hooks onto the rack and locks in place, firmly enough to
keep a pillion in place at 120MPH.

    I wouldn't bother. You'll only crash it.
    Excellent.

    Magic!
Just what SWMBO wanted..........a back rest!
Seriously, she finds not having something supporting her back disconcerting
when pillion, so the topbox will serve a dual purpose.
I suppose I'll have to provide a feckin cushion as well next!
