LIDL are knocking out cheap motorcycle clobber again from next thursday. I'm
going for the base layer stuff if I get there in time.

I looked at it the last time round... the jacket was so heavy I could
    barely lift it... and stiff!

the gloves are okay - probably not up to everyday use in the winter but
I've used them as a 2nd pair on a couple of summer tours to the Alps.
They were used on wet days on both tours and remained waterproof. They
kept my hands warm at altitude.

I keep a pair of those handy as spares and they are quite warm in
    winter with plenty of feel.

I use them as my main pair of gloves. They lasted about two years and
the stitching is just starting to come apaprt.

  10. It's not what is, it's the effect it has.

I couldn't use them as main gloves as they are too warm for most summer
conditions. In the winter I use a pair of muffs so they would be too warm
again, plus their waterproofing is not needed.

*ding* although any leftover veg, not just greens, so inc. carrots,
parsnips etc., might make their way into any B&S I cook.

chopped not mashed - I hate b&s that has been puréed before frying. Needs a
    bit of texture IMV.

Hmmmm - this may be due to regional variations but I was taught that
the squeak bit involves (mousetrap) cheese melted on top of the fryup.

    Er no
Spuds & greens leftovers (often) from the weekend lunch, generally
mashed and fried as a sort of thick pancake is how I know it. Greens
could be cabbage, sprouts basically anything.

What puzzles me about all of this is the concept of left over roast
    potatoes. Like, wtf?
