  1. What's the fluid of choice for such a beast?

Only the boys found a tool I don't own at the weekend, and it seemed
rude not to rectify the situation...

Jizer. It's just a shame you didn't mention this need a couple of

    gave away...

Poor form, etc, but I am remembering correctly, am I not, that Jizer
smells like Gunk? 'Cos I definitely don't like the pong of Gunk.

What do you want to clean? If it's general road crud and accumulated
oil/grease then DEB do stuff called road film remover (or something
similar but I can check) which will shift anything and you can dilute
it to whatever level of nastiness you desire. This shit removed a 2mm
thick layer of chain lube and dirt from the ex WC Bandit rear wheel in
about 5 minutes and said crud had withstood an attack with Gunk and
then unleaded without any visible signs of letting go.

I can do you a couple of litres to try if you want.

I don't see what difference it makes if you intend getting your wife
    to operate the parts washer.

Re my other post: don't use disposable gloves with the stuff I've
offered you as a trial, it eats them. I've also got a small quantity
of something slightly illegal that you could dilute for really
stubborn stuff but don't use it near 'O' rings. You probably know what
    the chemical is :)

I'd use a mixture of gunk degreaser and paraffin if it were me.

I'd be tempted to put a shot of diesel in it too, but I know that's bad
    for skin cancer.

Not that i'm gonna be dipping my hands in it for any great length of
    time ...

This site seems to recommend The CarPlan Tetroclean offering tho :

  20. Biodiesel. Seriously.

Ok, it's not as good as trike, but it doesn't rot your kidneys and
smells nicer. It really is an excellent gredeaser.
