I got an advisory on the Bandit on Saturday on the front disc runout.

After he had decided to pass it, he took off the front calipers and spun
    the wheel to show me.

Both front discs were indeed wobbling about a bit drunkenly (I'd say
about 1mm), but there's certainly no pulsing at the lever or uneven braking.

I asked him if the discs were floating, and he said 'no'. However, when
I look, they appear to float to me, and it's quite easy to move the
discs sideways a fair old bit. So to me, doesn't seem anything to worry
about, what say the foak? Surely if the discs float then a little bit of
    runout makes no never mind?

If they are indeed floating, then the run-out is not much to get worried
about as they will centre up when squeezed.
If they are fixed, then you may have a bit of a problem as you will probably
feel the bike itself pulsing as it comes to a stop. You may not always get
the pulsing brake lever though. If the bike stops fair, without the jerking
as it almost comes to rest then don't worry about it.
An advisory is nowt to worry about really as it's normally just something
the tester has spotted they may need attention to later.
