Paging the mechanics....

  1. OK, the fairing's off the ZX6R and goes in for repair this week.

While the bike's stripped down, I may as well sort out the other minor
irritations. I have obviously knocked the metal bracket that the top
fairing mounts onto slightly out of true when I came off - I could see
daylight where the windscreen met the fairing which I couldn't before,
and there was a definite <twang> as the fairing popped back into the
position it would rather be in.

So has anyone got any bright ideas how I can fix this? I was thinking of
measuring the dimensions of it, and seeing which way it needs to be bent
out to make it square again. Am I on the right lines?

    Ta muchly.

BTW, you know those lumps of metal holding the front indicators in? HTF
are you supposed to put them back on without stripping the top fairing
almost completely?! I'm buggered if I can see how it's possible.

I did that by throwing it down the road.

I "fixed" it with Honda Special Tool #1[1] and an "Aye, that's close enough"
    mentality.
God, that sounds like a lot of hard work.
There's a difference of opinion here, because I reckon you can do them with
the side-panels in place and Kiran reckons you can't.

FWIW I _know_ that I have done them with the panels on, although you have to
    remove the top fasteners.

So, remove top fasteners, remove metal bits from indicator stalks, push
stalks through fairing, reach behind fairing and fasten in metal bits, re-do
    top fasteners.

    Sorted.

And the "Honda Special Tool #1" is...???? Couldn't see any footnote.

Is it the same as the Landrover variable pressure applicator?
Hmmm...I'm not convinced, but will give it a try if I stuff up again....
