I've got a rather heavy piece of equipment in the back of the Jetta
and, erm, overestimated my own carrying capacity somewhat. Anybody
willing and able to help lifting out said implement?

I may even buy you a beer at the William Harvey pub around the corner
    :)

I guess so, given that I'm working in the garage trying to make space
for said implement at the moment :)

Ping me with an email with your mobile number, and I'll give you a ring
tomorrow when I surface - might not be too early, as I'm off out on the
    sauce in a mo.

If you reckon we need more than just me in addition, I can probably bring a
    mate as well.

(Still) in Ashford. Sometime in the morning would be good but it
appears that Mr JackH may not be able to make it :)
    Hmm. Maybe.

Are you going to pop up to Rye to see the rest of the Kentish
    Kontingent one way?

Eventually, yes. If we can find a weekend when I'm not fixing up the
house, fixing up the garage, fixing up a bike, working or away :)

  13. And where were *you* on Wedneday night? Not in the Standard with Prawn &
    myself, anyway.

    On Sun, 11 Dec 2005 19:02:01 +0000,
I'm sorry for my unannounced absence. I had my phone on but didn't
have any opportunity to see Prawn's kind invite and sent my apologies
    the day after :)

Unfortunately my father had just broken his hip and is now in hospital
where he will probably be for a while. Mother normally works as his
full-time carer so when he's not there she's got very little to do and
I hang around to give her some support.

We received news that during his hip replacement today he had several
seizures and a number of strokes. While I would like to see him back
with us at home there is a realistic possibility that he won't be with
us for much longer. He's not a well man at the best of times and his
health has deteriorated recently so I have to face the facts.

Oh, but I will be at the next Rye drinkies session. Rye appears to
have become the spiritual home of the Kentish Kontingent and what a
    lovely place it is.

I'm not sure we formally agree dates and times. Most happen as a "Are
you doing anything tonight" text message.

We have had some pre-booked rides though. Robbo even came to one of
them. It was a long time ago. When the days were long and we had
    warmth.

Mother phoned the hospital at 9pm and they switched from their usual
Let the Family Know How He's Doing mode to "We can't give you an
update over the phone. Do you have any form of transport to get
    here?"

I accompanied mother to the hospital and I was fully expecting to be
told that he'd died when it turns out that the two peeps on the ward
were just being a bit jobsworth and he's just sleeping.

    Grr.
