Heh. We have a creepy measure known as the "customer care caress score". I
make occasional references to "fondle mark" or "inappropriate touching
    rating".

"This one goes up to Gold, but *this* one goes up to Platinum".
No, it means the SLA resolve-time is lower.

I'm puzzled by these. Mine has to have the Fn key held down, as well
as NumLock on, to type numbers in. I never use it, oddly enough.

SLA - Service level agreement, a published set of standards against
which a support contract is measured, and against which services are
    provisioned.

resolve-time - the time taken to resolve an issue, opened for a
    service covered by the SLA.

Lower - less, fewer, 10 items or less, baskets only.

Very often. But then I worked in a bank for a while and got used to the
layout to the point that I could "touchtype" with it, which is still quite
    useful.

  8. Usually carefully written to ensure compliance requires no extra
    effort..
Where 'resolve' == 'close to ensure SLA isn't breached and re-open when
    the user complains'.
Do not pass go, do not collect pension

It *should* be just shift numlock to toggle the state, however after
using the docking station it fired up OK and I used my login to get
started. I then let the screensaver cut in whilst I was doing
something and the numlock was stuck, had to reboot in the end.

hahah - "awaiting user response" is a common hold-the-clock tactic
    here.

Check. Or, depending on metrics-gathering methods, ensure a new ticket
is opened to cover the new complaint. The more we complete, the better
    we're doing, right?

the dullest occupation. you have opened my eyes to a whole new universe of
    pedestrian tedium.

Oh for sure. Having now worked for an outsourcer for more time than
could ever be considered sensible the worst part is when that kind of
nonsense gets re-worked about 50 times on every deal, and then both
sides end up in a mexican stand off because there's actually no blood
    left in the stone anyway.

It's all shit, from every angle.

That's more than my pc cost, although it's not really a true HTPC.
I keep putting off purchasing the Keysonic keyboard and trackpad because
the techie in me wants to use bluetooth but I'm pretty sure I'll lose
a lifetime fiddling to get it work with Ubuntu.

You've reminded me I should just get one these.

  17. I'm going on an ITIL Foundation course later this year. After the
    Prince2 Foundation and Practioner course.

I may have to strange myself with my lower intestine.
