    Is this a good buy?

    "Elonex LNXTY-32F 32" LCD HDTV 1200:1 16:9 500cd 1366x768 8ms"

I'm looking for a HDTV, and was considering some Samsung CRT 32" HD
TV's (best of both worlds, better contrast/brightness, not fuzzy when
viewing 'normal' TV/DVD) but this LCD 32" HD TV looks quite good
    value.

    What do you think?

The contrast ratio doesn't look fantastic, 1200:1, but at that price I
don't think I'd mind. It wouldn't be the 'main' TV anyway but I'm not
sure if I want to buy it. There's very little information about it
and even the Elonex website doesn't shed any more light as to what
resolutions it supports. I can only imagine this is a very new model.

I think I may still sway towards a 32" HD CRT like the Samsung
    WS32Z419 or 429.

    <http://www.samsung.com/uk/products/television/crt/ws32z419d8xxeu.asp?page=Specifications>

It has all of the info online, I can see the image quality, I know
that the scan will be good for both HD and PAL/NTSC (The Elonex
doesn't appear to do NTSC from mnimal specs) because there's no
'native' rez on these CRT sets. There are reviews of it online
stating the known issues with the slimfit design etc, etc.

  5. No. Do the maths. How much distortion do you get squishing
1920x1080 into 1366x768[1]? Full resolution or nothing.

    [1] The LCD is 24.

Right on. Gives you a spot of neckache having to look around so much
    though.

I noticed the resolution was wrong last night shortly after posting.

Instead of buying a HD TV this month I just ordered a Flip Flap
    instead.

It'll look perfect on my desk at work.

I wouldn't go that far, but I have looked into it quite extensively.

I bought a Toshiba Regza 42" LCD last year, and I'm very happy with
    it. Very good price too.

  9. Ooh we have one of those too - very impressed with it as well. Although
I generally only watch it about once a fortnight, he thinks it's
    wonderful for the football.
