    Ok.

    That's enough.

I'm fed up with this now.

    Someone out there must know:
    a) how to get a proper SIG out of Google Groups;
    b) how to avoid/circumvent/override the message
"Your account or Internet address has exceeded our posting limit at
this time, please try again later.".
(and don't say "try not posting so much shite" - 'cos if I have to
start getting selective about what I post I might as well go back to
    snail-mail)

   (

Don't be so fucking pikey. Pay for an ISP account with Usenet access,
or else use news.individual.de or whatever they're calling themselves
    now.

And how do you get it to mark posts read when you've actually read them,
rather than at about 1pm every day?

If I had to do that each time, there'd be a txt file on my desktop with
    the .sig in it..

You see, I've got a news.indiv.net access, however prefer to read my
usenet via an rss feed whilst at work. I don't want to leave physical
messages on my machine, as it may be someone else's machine when I am
away on holiday/absent depending on desk space availability.

  8. Are you saying that google strips out spaces that are deliberately
    placed?
    I'm not.

Especially when the space is stripped out by them anyway.

Get a proper newsreader. Strips out fine with Xananews.

  16. Works fine in Agent, and will in other half-decent readers.

    Thanks.
My problem is I can only use GG at work.
I guess I'll have to learn to tolerate it.
    Or get another job.

What would happen if you put dash dash space comma and then carriage
return? Or does the sig sep thing look for dash dash space on its own
    line?

Bugger, and bad form. Should have read Bear's comment lower down
before posting this. Ignore me. I'll leave soon.
