Nnnnng... somebody tell me a good reason not to order the first PS2 I
find on eBay. I noticed you can get a brand new slimline PS2 with a copy
of GT4 for under 90 quid, which is getting more and more tempting...
might have to be an early Christmas present to myself.

Hmmm, I had a look recently and came to the conclusion I'd rather buy
a brand new one and accessories from Amazon for about 30 quid more.

The ones I saw on eBay for ~GBP90 were brand new, but I suppose it
    depends what accessories you're after.

Well, no. Maybe being a regular Ebay seller I have a distrust of
    buying from it.

Also, GT4 is available for £15 at John Lewis so don't let the
overpriced bundle sway you. Also, check out a Driving Force Pro wheel
    - without one you're missing a great deal of how the cars literally
    feel and handle.

Unless I'm missing some very cheap PS2 deals, I didn't think 90 quid was
    overpriced for a brand new PS2 + GT4.
I'm going to cop enough flack for buying a PS2 as it is, without any
    extra hassle, thanks.

Oh don't say things like that. I've got 300 quid in John Lewis
vouchers that were wedding presents sat on a shelf still.

    And JL price match...

Luckily Anya wants a games console as well. Really shouldn't have
sold my old Ps2 to Sweller. Ho hum.

Well, JL will do the PS2 for 100 notes and GT4 for 15. I think I'd
rather pay another 25 quid and get it from a reputable supplier whose
shop is at the bottom of my road than some random bloke on Ebay.

Time limited vouchers? If not, PS3 + GT5.

Nah. I've made myself of promise that I'll never buy new stuff like
that as soon as it comes out. I'm not prepared to pay for the
privilege of having the first one any more. I'll wait a year till
they come down to sensible prices. Made that mistake with the PS2.
400 notes it cost me and it got sold for 50 quid 3 years later.

On the one hand, I don't think the worst of everyone, so I don't think
I'm likely to get deliberately ripped off if I buy one off eBay.

OTOH... if something does go wrong with it, it's a lot easier to take it
back to somewhere like JL and get it swapped straight away.

OTOOH... if I can find a small, local shop to buy it from, I can get an
appropriately-worded VAT receipt and claim it on expenses...

Plus, I've discovered that I'm not likely to get any flack for buying
one, as long as I: (a) get the silver model (the pink edition being a
little difficult to come by); and (b) get a dance mat.

    Game on...

    Yes, I did too, but:

    (a) Pink's her favourite colour, and whilst I think there was a special
edition PS2 in that colour it was very limited; of the
    commonly-available options, silver will look better than black;

    (b) She thinks the dance games might encourage to do some exercise.

  19. Of Eddie's possible purchase of a PS2 and dance mat.
Whoever it is will not be as good as Christofire.
