Am I right in thinking that if one[1] were to get hypothetically flashed
from a front facing camera whilst driving a UK-reg cage in norvern
France, that there is pretty much no chance of any repercussions?

[1] I ain't saying nuffink, you didn't see me, right?

  3. The hypothetical person will be fine. As is the hypothetical person who
got flashed four times in a French Hertz hire car a year ago. ;-)

Yeah, no worries. There still haven't been any inter-country agreements
between the UK and France as yet for cameras as yet. It's all to do
    with data protection, IIRC.

BUT in France, you can still be pulled over by FrogPlod and fined.

Oh, I've recently read a news article (can't find a trace of the URL)
where Plod are accompanying FrogPlod on trips around Calais to catch
British speeders. I don't know if the program is still going on.

Unless your hire or rental car was paid for on a credit card and then you
get the bill for the ticket from the rental agency five months later.

    *Sigh*

Wrong, at least as far as Hertz France goes.

I hope that applies to all continental hertz rentals, just in case
    like.

Unfortunately I think TOG was lucky. I got (unknowingly) flashed three
times in one day in Germany in a rental. Along with the fines (that were
taken by credit card IIRC), I got a nice letter that said something
along the lines of "you are banned from driving in Germany for three
    months".

    No, I think it's a "French thing"(tm). I expected four speeding fines,
potentially up to 1500 euros each, to be deducted from my CC, but when
I phoned Hertz France, the jovial bod at the other end of the line
said that's not how it works in France.

"The police have requested the details of the driver. We have given
your details. That means that they pursue you, not us..." was
effectively what he said, adding that this might be unlikely.

Little Bruvver, who lives in France, confirmed that this is how it
works with Froggie hire cars, and said he'd be really, really
surprised if anything came of it, as it would be so much paperwork.
    Looks like he was right.

Ah well I'll wait by the letter box then, it was only a police car on
a bridge type trap so we'll see.

€1500? you were going over the speed limit by 50kph each time?

  16. I dunno, as no tickets were issued. Hertz was merely asked for the
driver's details. So I dunno where, exactly, I was flashed now how fast
I was going at the times. But, potentially, yes.

    Nice new email addie, btw.

Ditto to that sir. On my way back from Monaco, my GPS that was accidently
showing cameras, genuinely just forgot to turn them off, beeped and gave me
a handy warning that I needed to strike a pose :) Mainly these were, hands
of the wheel, each giving a nice mature one finger salute whilst I made some
stupid face. Mate in the passenger seat did the same. God, we're so
    immature... :p

I know the speed camera warnings on the TomTom could've had me in the shit,
and if we'd been tailed or passed a copper in a car, we'd be screwed as we
stayed been 95 and about 105 most of the way home, straight through France
stopping only for fuel. There was also one camera we passed at 130mph gps,
that was a proud one. In Germany we thought we were on autobahns a few
times, and went for a 'let's see how fast we can go' then, when we got home
it turned out, we didn't go on one autobahn for the whole trip... Oops...

You know, because of my 'situation' - I almost wanted them to try and persue
me, or at least get as far as sending me the photos as I reckon they'd have
looked really great on my wall in here next to the Pro one from the 'Ring.
