Ginge and Black Mike and Ace and me are going to be indulging in a bit
of motorcycling tomfoolery around France in the week preceding Chimay.
As such, we'd rather not all be encumbered with tents. It occurred to
me that they *might* be spare under-canvas space amongst the general
Chimay crowd, so we might be able to get away with just bring
    crashbags and roll mats.

Ace might not be going to Chimay anyway, cos he's too posh to camp.

Any one taking large tent, then?

I can take a 3 body tent, with porch. On the first Chimay trip, there
were 2 in the main bit of the tent and 1 in the porch area. If I take
the VFR, I may have room to bungee a second tent across the seat.

I ruled out taking my regular tent due to the bulk so got one of these
tint ones with the view of using it for future biking trips.

It's small enough to strap on top of a pannier, and saves the hassle of
sharing with anyone.. pretty much a 1 person + gear size tho..

So, I probably don't need space.

Well, if I could book a space, that would be just peachy!
Well, no need to do that. Mind you, with a bit of financial savvy,
you could become the Rackman of the Chimay camping field.

You're welcome to borrow my North Face Tadpole, back packing tent.
You know, the small one I use at races occasionally.

Look, I thought I'd made my position clear on this. As long as I'm
pissed enough and the weather's OK and I don't need to buy a tent and
I feel like it and I haven't got anything better to do that weekend,
I'll definitely be up for it. OK?

Hmm.. I really want to do it, but the pressure not to use my holidays
for *me* is still a bit intense at the moment, so I can't commit just
    yet.

I mentioned it again yesterday, but the ground is still a bit stony.

I have one of those 5 x single reed airbeds that you inflate by blowing
(i.e. without a pump) in about 20 seconds that takes up around 1/3 the space
of a roll mat when being lugged around. Not that I'm offering it to anyone,
but if you all bought your own you would at least save a fair bit of space.

I assume this is the trip Ginge mentioned to me.

If you are still going the same dates, have fun! If you are passing Cahors
after 26 July[1] then there could be space available at my new place.

[1] Yes I know we move 2 weeks before then, but what with unpacking, sorting
stuff out[2], coming home for the MotoGP etc etc etc it could be a bit
    hectic....
[2] Like a fridge, freezer, washing maching, wardrobes, French transformer
for the Scalextrix. That kind of thing.

Last year the weather was great, really hot and then it pissed down
Saturday night then Sunday was really hot. The thunderstorms were
    impressive.

Some form of tent/cover arrangement may be a good precaution.

I'll be taking the one I had last year, which was adequate for me and
Lesley. Not the pinnacle of luxury. but it'll keep the rain off. So, room
    for one extra.
