Yes, the Multipla Classic. The new ones look like a bloated-out Idea.

  3. Hmmmmmm..... I wish they did a common rail engine in the Fabia.

If anything makes me consider the Primera DCi it's that 138bhp 2.2 CR
engine mated to the six-speed box.

Wonder what it does to the gallon?

Must be very useful in the congested SE.

I'll have climate control before cruise. Although I did find cruise handy
during my regular commutes down the police infested Cirencester bypass and
    A34 south of Newbury.

For me the best car gadget has to be the Bart Simpson you stuck to the
side window on suckers. Every time you squeezed a bulb on a hose he
dropped his trousers and exposed his bum. Way cool.

For me it's the stereo. I can forgive most other things in a car so
long as I can listen to music at a reasonable quality.

only 138? That's feeble compared to the new 1.9litre 150BHP CDTi lump
that Vauxhall have put in the new astra.

Also a 6 speed box, and the SRi estate is going to come in around your
    price point.

Any particular reason? The VW group PD dieseasel isn't a bad lump -
the 130bhp lump I had in the Passat I used to drive returned over
45mpg around Cotswold A roads and over 50mpg on long runs. My dad has
a Skoda Octavia with the 90 motor that he regularly gets 55+ mpg out
of. The Octavia's boot isn't much smaller than the Passat, so loads of
room for booze cruise top ups.

AOL on the climate control. That way you can keep the windows wound
up, so that you can't hear those self-righteous cunts who get upset if
you have the temerity to use a mobile phone whilst driving.

CR engines, once you've driven them, are *so* much smoother and sweeter.
Pokier and even more economical, too. Do everything it says on the tin.

I remember driving two Iveco ford vans a few years ago, back to back.
One with the ordinary TD engine, and the other with CR. Both engines
identical apart from the CR factor. The difference was amazing.

No, I had a Citroen ZX TD some years back. It was a lovely little car. I
was wondering whether 100bhp is quite enough, but then the Fabia is not
    a very big car[1].

The Octavia is bigger, but hard to get the spec I want at the price I
want to pay. Cruise is only a ukp125 option on Skodas, but nobody ever
buys it. It's only standard on the top-specced cars. Believe it or nor,
I use it a helluva lot. On motorways, which I use every day to get to
work, I literally drive it "on the buttons".

[1] The other drawback. Decent boot space with the estate, mind, because
of the longer rear overhang and the estate configuration.

Wot 'e sez. The CR in the Platybus is a really pleasant, torquey,
    unobtrusive engine.
    65mph in the middle lane?

I've never gotten on with cruise control on cars. Conversely, I loved the
throttle friction screw on the R80RT.

  12. B-b-b-but it's *illegal*! Shurely you wouldn't want to be breaking the
    LAW?

Whatever next! You'll be saying that you exceed the speed limits next!

150bhp is pretty feeble by any standards.

Classics aside, I'd never consider any car with less that 180bhp.

From a _diesel_ that still returns over 50MPG I'd say it's respectable.

Method of fuelling doesn't concern me. Fuel consumption doesn't
    concern me.

That's not what diesels are about anyway, they're about torque and tend
to have gobs more of that than the petrols.
