  1. Well, the wild card is now - don't laugh - a Fabia diesel estate, wiv
    all the toys.

Well specced, well priced, and (allegedly) low depreciation. I don't
think I need a "big" car these days.

A Skoda would certainly suit your reputation in these parts. Not as
apposite as an Allegro though :).

Skoda is owned by VW, as is Seat. Check to see if the Seat equivalent gives
better value - it did when I bought my car a couple of years ago.

I like your logic: cause kids go get smaller as they get older, right?

Do they do the vRS as an estate? - if so, then go for it, they're a
stonkingly good car... good enough to see off a Mini Cooper on the
    track.

My 13 year old, who is now 2 inches taller than me, whinges like **** about
my ickle Ibiza and makes comments like, "that's a nice car". I'd be
sympathetic if they were actually *nice* rather than big & cumfy.

Given that most of the time spent "driving" a cage is passed with you
doing **** all and going nowhere very fast doing it I think big and
    comfy are essentials.

I only do about 6000 miles a year in a cage. Long trips are rare. Living
in the centre of Cardiff a big cage would be a PITA. As a short arse, a
small hatchback suits me. The only creature comfort I'd miss is the air
con. If I did not have a 74 year old mum, living in Abergavenny, I'd
probably get rid of the car, use the bike more and hire a car when
    needed.

The current SO of our ex-posting Ursine friend has a Fabia diesel and he has
    nothing but praise for it.

So obviously _you_ wouldn't touch one with a barge-pole :)

Shame. I probably wouldn't, then, as I think you'd be quite frustrated
    with the 100bhp TDI.

Obviously an original shape, though. The new ones look so dull.

Could be some deals to be had on them, too, as the Octavia has just / is
about to be replaced with a new Audi-esque one.

    He's a well-build lad, if he is.

No, rather obviously, I meant that _Bear_ has nothing but praise for the
    Skoda.

But you know that, didn't you?

    Interesting mixture of tenses.

I did suspect that was your meaning. However, I thought it best to
clarify if a latent sexuality had emerged. It's not like such occurences
    are unusual in these parts.

  20. Well, while he may live n a fantasy world in many respects, I think he
knows his shit when it comes to motahs.

An odd thing, a Fabia estate. Obviously, it's the new Polo platform, so
it's a smallish car, but the rear overhang is way more than the hatch,
giving extra load space. And the Elegance model is well specced -
they're just added cruise and parking sensors as standard, and you get
all the rest of the usual goodies.

Cruise is a must for me. Best car gadget there is.
