Anyone who's route takes them via Oxfordshire, and fancies the slow, scenic route, let me know as I plan departing at around 10.30am. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr Space in shed where NSR125 used to be Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X (Patio Ornament) BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005/6), X-FOT#000, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow), OMF#11
Anyone heading from the south coast is welcome to join me. I'm meeting Ralf, one of our many German brothers, at a few minutes past 8am tomorrow and we'll be heading up the M20, M25 and then M1. I should be meeting up with SeanH at the 'first services on the M1,' wherever those may be. We should join the M1 at about 10:15.
I hope you mean the first services north of the M25 junction because the first actual services (London Gateway) are at Scratchwood which is only few minutes north of Brent Cross (the end of the M1 at the London end) and quite a long way south of the M25. http://www.multimap.com/map/browse....table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=1&scale=25000 The first services north of the M25 appear to be Newport Pagnell. http://www.5minutesaway.co.uk/motorway/instructions.asp?motorway=1
There's a thought, is there anyone travelling from Preston way? with the same penchant for easy scenic stuff. I assumed there would be no-one in my neck of the woods, but maybe there is.
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, BGN I would strongly recommend you avoid the M1 until after Luton. There are roadworks with a 40MPH limit and narrow lanes at the moment, and they're a ****** to filter through. Take the A1 to the Stotfold Bypass (A507?), cut across to Ampthill and pick up the M1 there if you're determined to do motorways. That'll drop you on the M1 just south of Newport Pagnell services. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - To stay young requires unceasing cultivation of the ability to unlearn old falsehoods. I'm just down the M61 from you. Depending on what time you're going, I could meet you at the roundabout at th' end of the sliproad at Jct 4 -- Beav OMF#19 VN 750 Zed Thou mail is beavis dot original at ntlworld dot com (with the obvious changes)

Troo. They are deeply evil road works, though, held me up something rotten last week at about 7:30 going North. Who are these people, and why are they all on my road. Mind you, the traffic is *always* evil round Luton for some reason I wot not of. Ali
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Ali Hopkins Aye, I had some trouble filtering through them last week. Those narrow lanes are a bastard. As are dozy fuckers in Mercs. Swearing at them helps. Refugees trying to escape. Fortunately the border patrols are quite effective. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - To stay young requires unceasing cultivation of the ability to unlearn old falsehoods. I tried ringing you today Chris, but got no answer and my battery went flat as a fart so I couldn't leave a message. As to what I'm doing, I'm going in the morning. In uk.rec.motorcycles, ChrisDC belched forth and ejected the following: ICBW, but the first services that aren't the London Gateway ones are just a couple of hundred yards short of J12, approximately 30 miles from the LG.
