Snot looking good, especially for the Greenock plant. Still once they
have laid off everyone who knows how to actually-make-things-work they
will have to take them back as Contractors for 2 or 4 times the cost.

Right now, yes. But nobody's telling any of us enough to know what the
    f*ck the big plan is.

There's always a plan, whether it relates to any of this, or just to the
illuminati is a different matter altogether.

I suspect that there is no big plan when it comes to this stuff, more of
a suck it and see type approach.

The trade press seem to think they're trying to scrape out a layer or two of
management to save costs, but it's all the coal-face guys round here who
    have "expressed interest".

I'm currently dredging Jobserve for radical left-wing terror groups looking
    for trainee extreme wetwork artistes...

Our site is closing and all the manufacturing is moving to the states
    (that's where the decision makers live) even though our site was;
compliant, qualified, validatable, efficient and kept the customers happy.

Marconi are apparently moving buildings in Coventry, because they
can't afford the lease payments, having done this.

I've got irons, in fires, locally, along similar lines.

I put forward the concept of a silent protest with colleagues today, if
*everyone* in the the firing line were to register interest in the
voluntary package just before the deadline it'll keep HR tied up for
    months....

Sounds familiar. Although my job didn't go to the US where the parent
company, Xerox, is based. They outsourced everything to Flextronics plants
    in Hungary, China & Mexico.

A bugger it is, I was getting all happy when I went out to vote thinking

a cup of tea that and no Monster Raving Loony Party to vote for spoilt
    my whole day it did.

No. They are the darlings of the shareholders. A year before I left them
the share price was $4. Now it's at $13 [1] since they screwed their
traditional workforce and continue to exploit the emerging countries.

I envy wavey davey as he had two raving looneys on his ballot paper, one
standing for the party, and one in the form of kilroy silk. that's like
    30% mong.

if anyone deserved to be represented by mongs it's the population of
