More likely English Electric Type 3s that will be my downfall. Either
them or the wind noise from 1963 stock.

Well I thought that, but considered TOG to be laying some sort of
whooshing entrapment, so left it alone. We shall see ...

I was there on Sat. Good show until the rain set in at around 3pm and
we all drifted off home at a rate inversely proportional to our
    hardiness.

That F16 can shift a bit huh?

  9. my old man had a mate called that in El Adem where I first saw
shackeltons flying and got close up to them, I then saw loads parked
up as scrap at a RAF station, I can't remember the name but Ogri MCC
used to use it . It was where the Red Arrows where stored during the
winter when they was based at what was CFS Little Rissington. My old
man had a stint as the OC of the refueling section and worked with the
RA, great stuff for me as I got to go behind the rope at air shows and
got to play with all the planes

One thing I'll always remember was helping the makers and pilot of
'Little Nell' get the Gyro=Copter ready for a show and sitting in it
as it was pushed out to the runway ready for his display.

  10. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember
    (The Older Gentleman) saying
    something like:
    In the grocery department, obviously.

If the Lancastrian was a civil development of the bomber, I had visions
of the galley crew lobbing breakfast rolls across the spar to the
    passengers.

  14. I had a fantastic few hours in the late 1950s as an ATC cadet flying in
the hemispherical nose window of a Shackleton over the Moray Firth. My
mate and I were the last on board, and every one else had greedily
grabbed the obvious places, so we were given these fantastic seats up
front. We were the only ones not to puke :)

True, but we had the Breitling Jet team on Sat. Typically I received a
spam SMS and was distracted just as they were doing their cross-over
    pass.
It was the most energetic display of the day. Not one for attempting
    on a hangover morning methinks.

Was cool to see the Tornado too, that's the plane I drooled over as an
    ankle snapper.

My Father was on secondment from the RAF to Singer Link Miles in Lancing
during the building of the Tornado simulator. I had a ride in it, which
in 1977/8 aged 10 was pretty damned cool.

I liked the Sea Vixen - it sounded a bit like the Lightnings I drooled
over as a nipper. They always made my kid brother cry too, which was
    a bonus :)
