Audi 100, 2L, 73,000miles - £850. Is this reasonable?
In uk.rec.motorcycles, gazzafield amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom: Depends on the year, tax, MOT and general condition doesn't it?
In uk.rec.motorcycles, gazzafield amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom: Depends on the year, tax, MOT and general condition doesn't it? I am an arse. "L" Reg, MOT to Feb, 2 months tax. Yet to have a look but described as "excellent condition inside and out".
In uk.rec.motorcycles, gazzafield amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom: Well I'm no expert but I reckon £500 is more like it. SWK will be along shortly.
I've got a tatty Audi 80, 2 litre, L-reg, 140k - if someone offered me *half* of £850 I'd snatch their hand off.
As others have said, almost certainly not. The mileage is low and it will go on to double that with ease, but the 100 is your classic example of an unloved car, especially non-quattro versions. If the mileage is genuine and there's a wad of paper work for it and it's got an MOT that's less than 30 minutes old and it's taxed and it's mint inside and out and all of the electrics work and, obviously, it's not on fire then it might stretch to £500. If you do buy it then let me know and I'll get the ukrm Audi 100 workshop manual to you (may be slightly scorched). -- AndrewR, D.Bot (Celeritas) Kawasaki ZX-6R J1, Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo BOTAFOT#2,ITJWTFO#6,UKRMRM#1/13a,MCT#1,DFV#2,SKoGA#0 (and KotL) BotToS#5,SBS#25,IbW#34, DS#5, COSOC# Suspended, KotTFSTR# The speccy Geordie twat.
Sounds good to me - a little lower than I'd expect to pay. For those who say 500 quid, remeber this is a facelift model (looks like an early A6) rather than the original 'aero' shaped one. Believe it or not, they're still quite sought after. The 2l petrol is probably one of the less desireable ones, most people would want the 2.5TDI or 2.6 V6.
At that mileage, it's barely run it... if it's been serviced that is. I did about 50,000 miles[1] in my Audi and it was ok. [1]From 106,000 to 156,000 miles.
Thanks for that offer Andrew, I go to see it on Thursday evening. Any idea why yours decided to spontaneously combust?
Except that when I wrote that I didn't realise it was one of the new models. The manual I've got only covers them up to 1990. Not really. I think it had started to run a little rough just before I stopped for petrol and when the fire brigade got the bonnet open two of the fuel injection pipes were disconnected, so it might have sprayed some petrol round a hot engine. I don't know. -- AndrewR, D.Bot (Celeritas) Kawasaki ZX-6R J1, Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo BOTAFOT#2,ITJWTFO#6,UKRMRM#1/13a,MCT#1,DFV#2,SKoGA#0 (and KotL) BotToS#5,SBS#25,IbW#34, DS#5, COSOC# Suspended, KotTFSTR# The speccy Geordie twat.

Me driving the facelifted 2.3 5 in-line cyl. Confortable and a good highway cruiser. A bit too large for just a 2.0, may be. I actually bought it after driving a hired Mini Cooper and considering I needed something that was not exciting. Concerning the facelift, late 100's and early A6's are known to Audi as type C4, whereas early 100's were type 44. Type 44 2.2L engine was catalyzed and raised to 2.3, to be sincere 2.2 was more exciting to drive.
