I once tendered for the Hyundai Import Centre leather business around
1997. I was too expensive at £475 a car fitted when turning around 10
sets at a time. The company who got the deal pitched at £385ish IIRC.
At the time a good 50sq ft hide cost about 100 quid and you'd need 1
1/2 to do the facings on a Coupe, plus labour, collection, delivery
etc. That says volumes about the quality of the leather they went with.

Do a search on google using WUN and Ryan air as keywords. You're not
dealing with a normal thinking person here.

A mate of mine took around a 9K bath on a Forester that lunched it's
    engine around 2 - 3years back. I can't recall the exact details[1] but
something to do with a head warping. After fixing in continued to give
trouble and is now outed in favour of a Skoda superb.

    [1] I could find out.

  4. No. For a five year-old car? Nah.

They will just not get my business again.

  5. This is the point - these are the 'old' Nissans, before bloody Renault
    managed to **** things up.

You've reminded me now - that's what happened to my mate's Legacy. The
head gasket blew & warped the head.

    [snip shit happening]
    Sheesh, I would say so!

That could put P off another Nissan[1], although...
P's has been absolutely fine. Condensation is an issue but it's never
    failed her.

[1] She keeps looking at Qashqais and going "oooh, that's nice" even
though she's rabidly anti-4x4[2]. I reckon she should look at the
A-Class but because some bloke at work told her that the manual isn't
all that[3] she won't even look at one at the moment.
[2] Not all of them are actual 4x4, but they are an SUV, which a lot of
people think synonymous even though they're not.
[3] She doesn't want an auto.

If you tell her it's just a Renault Megane on stilts, which way would
    that influence her...?

Probably put her off as she "doesn't want a French car". Still with
her logic she "doesn't want a Ford as they're all crap" despite the
Focus & Mondeao being best in class or thereabouts for a while and the
new Fiesta is raved about too.

Who'd want a Ford? Hell, you might as well just go all the way and buy a
    Vauxhall.

I had an F plate one when I lived in Worksop, wonderful car for the
£170 quid it cost me. Not a spot of rust anywhere and drove really
nicely despite approaching 100K miles. It was a pretty decent spec as
well, with 4 door e/w and cdl, e/sunroof etc. Mine was ne of the first
to be built in UK, and as such the workers there were trying very hard
to prove they could build cars as good as their Jap counterparts, and
in the case of those Bluebirds they were actually better.

sounds like davethedave's old beetle. of course, once it had exited the
roundabout you would be facing in a completely arbitrary direction.
