  2. This was trailed last night as showing people competing for "a chance to
crew one of the few remaining Lancaster bombers still flying". ICBW, but I
thought that there was/is only one - the "City of Lincoln" in the Memorial
    Flight.

  5. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Andy Wegg"
That's the one owned by the two farming brothers?
Must be nice, having a bloody great runway on yer land. And hangers. And
    a bomber.

I used to live anout 2 miles from there and vaguely know one of the
brothers. Apparently the airframe has far too many hours on it and would
need to be completely rebuilt in order to make it airworthy. They've now got
4 working engines though and they do taxi it out of its hanger and down a
short piece of runway on occasion so it does make you wonder whether it
might be a long term goal to see it flying again.

Is it the one that used [1] to be the gate guardian at Scampton? I've
    been in that one.

I think I was about 7 at the time; all I can remember was it smelt
'funny', not at all like service aircraft [2], and I was too short to see
out. My Dad was on 9 sqdn at the time.

[1] Is there no longer one there?
[2] Which smell of sweat, vomit and old television sets.

No, we left Lincolnshire in 1977 for Singer Link Miles down here in
Sussex for the Tornado simulator project.

He was on Victors at Marham '81 - '87/88 [1] and part of the group of
Victors stationed at Ascension during the Falklands.

[1] I can't remember exactly but it was when they 'forgot' to tell me
    they'd moved to Boscombe Down.

Maltese woman about half his height.

Probably there with my cousin at the same time then! He was on Vulcan, and
changed to Tornados at Waddington then.

The hotel I stayed at in Colorado Springs has some plane, which forms
part of the restaurant. You can eat inside the fuselage (it's got
    tables and waiters and stuff).

So, what kind of plane is it?
