  1. All pseudo-raspberries might want to note that the Nannies are
withdrawing Co-Proxamol because you can't be trusted not to kill
    yourselves with it.

  2. How the buggery can they prove it's linked to suicide? There are good
number of people out there who believe that twice as much is better than
a single dose as it'll give them twice as much pain relief.

Accidental overdose is more likely than suicide imo.

  4. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Wicked Uncle Nigel
After a hard day's thrashing from Nurse Glenda, there's nothing I like
better than relaxing with a hot toddy and a handful of painkillers.

The utterly selfish bastards. Why should the rest of us have to suffer
because of the actions of a few, eh?

I had several runs in with chemists last weekend. Father person is
visiting from France and takes 75mg asprin daily. A tiny dose for
blood thinning. He cant get it in tab form in france, only powder
    which is a PITA.

Here they sell them in tubs of 100 tabs. = 7500mg
Boots would sell me 2 tubs.
    Superdrug 1 tub.
    Tesco 1 tub.

    A PITA.

    Or packs of 32 x 300mg tabs. = 9600mg

According to the limits I can find, they are only supposed to sell in
    lots of 16 tabs.

I can still buy 400mg Ibuprofen in tubs of 50.

    Does it make sense? No

Fucking wonder drug it is. And at that level it doesn't **** your guts
or your liver up enough that the extra years from thin blood, reduced
cancer rates, reduced parkies rates, the list goes on, is ever going to
    be an issue.

I buy it a tub at a time which at one a day lasts forever. Safety
issues aside, one tub still sealed in the cupboard and one on the side
is nearly enough to qualify as a Mormon.
So is being a Mormon, which is why I only ever have a maximum of 5
months supply in the house at any one time.
    I disagree strongly.

I thought this was only Paracetomol, on account of the overdosage being
actually quite small? Whereas Ibuprofen is pretty hard to top yourself

  12. If my recent experience is anything to go by then pharmacies are
applying it to all analgesics. I managed to persuade the pharmacist to
let me have larger quantities because I was off on my travels to Egypt
and needed to a generous weeks supply of various drugs to hold flu at
bay so I could dive. If there hadn't been a pharmacist on duty then
there was no way the droids would have let me have more than the
    minimum amounts.

In the event I should have just made my purchases in Egypt where I
managed to buy Amoxil over the counter to try and fix my strep throat.

Without a pharmacist there are strict rules about how much you can buy
of most OTC drugs. Basically it would be the same amount as you could
get in a supermarket. The droids can sell larger amounts than that,
only on the basis that a pharmacist is present and has instructed them
as to what's a 'normal' amount. For larger quantities you'll always
need to speak to the pharmacist.

It's frustrating, though. Each time I'm in the UK I buy up as much
Boots ibuprofen as I can, as it's the only one I know of that comes in
bottles of 100 in caplet form. To avoid unneccessary hassle I usually
only buy max two bottles at a time, occasionally stopping at more than
one branch. Just cos explaining that you use them regularly, and why,
and that you understand the possible risks, etc. etc. is such a PITA.

  14. As is the question from the untrained and often unable assistant "you
won't take them together will you?" when buying paracetamol and
    ibuprofen+codeine in the same go..

I'm always tempted to ask them what they think will happen if I do.

And then laugh and point out that the painkillers I have been
prescribed have 5 times as much codeine and twice as much Ibuprofen
as what they have just sold me.

  16. That's the whole point surely, that you can take them together if
    needed. *Even* I know that.
