    You're Met, right?

Me and the missus were outside Brenda's[1] gaff yesterday when I spotted
bike janitors with what I am convinced were shooters in holsters.

Is this some new anti-speeding policy we've not been told about yet? Are
those who have learned about it no longer in a position to comment?

    ITWSBT.

[1] You know, that nice Mrs Windsor.

I was under the impression that the escort police 'usually' carried guns.

I thought that quite a lot of the coppers around the politically sensitive
parts of London carried guns (e.g. the Merkin embassy on Grosvenor Sq
    init?).

You`ve just seen the Met Special Escort Group. They ride with sidearms
    all the time.

Do they leave cards on the bodies that say that?

All the RUC bikers ride with sidearms on hip holsters worn over the yellow
jackets. Looks designed to smash a pelvis in a slide.

  9. "Armed Police! Stop, or I'll throw this useless lump of metal at you" ?

Of course they'll be loaded, or at the very least I would hope that the
police would be carrying magazines with live ammunition that would permit
the weapon to be loaded and made ready quickly. What's the point of carrying
weapons if you don't carry the ammunition to use (standfast the Armed Forces
    and ceremonial duties).

Carrying [1] un-loaded guns is generally regarded as pretty dumb.

Is whatI I meant. A loaded gun going down with you in a crash would be a
    scary experience.

  12. Pre 11th September, the armed police at Gatwick had an empty mag in
their H&K and a full one in their jacket on account of them playing with
the trigger and letting off the occasional round in public or near by.
    This may now have changed.

I saw a French documentary a while ago, where a bike copper was
chasing a scrote in a cage. The cage crashed and the scrote got out
and started to run off. The copper slammed on the anchors and when he
stopped, he jumped off the bike, leaving the cameraman to fall over
    with the bike [1].

In the meantime, he had pulled out his sidearm and was heard screaming
to the scrote, "Stop there, or I'll fill you full of lead! [2]"

[1] Funny as **** it was.

Aye, when the Navy introduced the concept of armed sentries on warships in
non-naval ports the rate of woundings due to stupidity rocketed - giving
matelots guns? Sounds almost as stupid as giving guns to the police! :)
