    cool .. jobs a good 'un then.

    I'm going for an MP3 player in my jacket pocket for long motorway stints
    as the RS has'nt enough depth in the fairing panels to accomodate a
    radio.

    Last time I did north Wales > St.Raphael a sony walkman made the
    autoroute tedium bearable :eek:)

    I've just scored some tank kneepads on ebay for my K. Motobins £40 quid
    a pair. Got the for 25 quid

  3. Still have to fit it and wire it up. :-\
    I actually don't really like music on the go, as it distracts me. Plus
    when SO is with me, I prefer to use the 'tuyaucom' .
    I might be doing some purchases off them in the near future. I don't think
    that we in France have the same sort of thing for buying BMW 'pièces
    détachées', so we either go to our BMW dealer and get fleeced, or else we
    buy them off the web, and have to pay postage.

    How easy are the following ..?

    * changing oil filter
    * changing air filter
    * changing oil in front forks
    * changing oil in rear shocks [1]
    * any other 'pre-big-trip' stuff that you can think of

    ...?

    Ta.

    [1] as it's wallowing a bit, I think that this is becoming a priority

    easy ... assuming you have the special tool (inexpensive)

    I only use Mobil 1 15w50 synthetic in my K's they seem to be smoother
    with it, slightly better on MPG and power too.
    easy .. but the catches are fiddly
    easy .. its probably a 5 grade in yours try a 10 grade to stiffen the
    forks up a bit, I've also fitted stiffer fork springs now my K has a few
    miles on it.
    not possible ... sealed unit. A replacment shock is not cheap, I got a
    genuine Boge one last year from Motobins
    Fuel filter ;o)

    Gear box oil ... again I use Mobil synthetic 80w90

    Rear bevel box oil ...ditto Mobil synthetic 80w90

    .... a _MUST_ do job (that I've yet to haul my lazy ass to the workshop
    to do) is to grease, with some white grease that I have at home but
    cannot recall the name of Opti summat I think, the shaft to bevel box
    splines or a very expensive frettting failure results. My K is on 45000
    miles which is when it is recommended to be done as part of a service I
    think.

    Tons of useful service stuff at

  5. { huge snip }

    Thanks for the tips. So basically, most of the stuff is within my reach
    technically, except for the rear shock ?

    Just buy the complete unit including spring. It then becomes a genuine
    "10 minute" job. I changed mine last year[1] and opted to buy the shock
    absorber by itself. Just could not get the spring to disengage from the
    shocker (spring compressor big mallet big grips lots of swearing and
    more). Fortunately Motobins kindly accepted the shocker back and I got
    the whole unit (£140 as opposed to £80 for just the shocker).

    Although it looks like it's much more expensive now at £158 + VAT (can
    you be excused UK VAT if buying from froggie land ? )

    [1] Haven't ridden the K75S since getting the CBR600RR3 about 18 months
    ago so it's probably more like 2 years ago.

  7. My garage quotes me 280¤ for the unit (£193), plus 15¤ installation.
