    Luck of the draw, mate.

I'm pretty sure these things are all built in the same place - along
with the joint-venture MPV on which it's based.

Whilst the body is the same, we also got a Peugeot HDi engined variant at
the same time (the Scudo was the JTD version). The Scudo was utter crap
(electrics and turbo). The Peugeot has just come off lease with 100k on the
clock and has been so reliable we have now bought it off the lease co. The
problem with the Fiat was not the really breakdowns (cos shit happens), it
was the crap service from the main dealer and from Fiat themselves - a total
shower of cunts, couldn't give a shit.

  3. I've got a Multipla. It's been fine apart from 1) an airflow sensor -
replaced, eventually, under warranty, and 2) clutch master cylinder, which
is a bit fucked, and will be fixed under warranty when the bits eventually
arrive. Meanwhile, I continue to perfect my heel-and-toe skills...

  4. So all the stories about shite Fiat dealer service are true?

    Probably.

I only ever used one, and they were very good.

I'll let you guess which one this was.

His place was the only decent Fiat / Alfa franchise I ever visited.

The parts desk blokes were real stars, nothing too much trouble for
them. Sometimes let down by parts supply for older kit, though - but
pretty good most of the time.

Only had work done there once - a fuel tank recall. Was impressed - but
my local mechanic charged labour at a fraction of the franchise rate.

  8. They're all right. Not great at telephony, but the main problem is the
waiting for part scenario. The clutch bits were ordered mid-Dec, latest ETA
    is end of Jan.

But, fair play, two probs in 35K. If only eveything in life was as reliable
    as a Multipla...

The dealer our ex-van went to told me (whilst it was off the road for 4
weeks having the locks changed due to an ECU problem) that they could only
correspond with Fiat via fax, and not by phone at all. This was prolly a
bunch of crap, but it seemed to fit in nicely with the whole sorry scenario
at the time. Akkshirley, now I think about it, the locks took 2 days to
change, the remaining time was spent working out how to reprogram the
transponders in the locks. Utter utter crap.
