The world had gone spud mad. Apparently there have been some students
that were conned with spud packed laptops. :)

A friend of mine bought a supposedly knocked off laptop from a pikey
looking character a few months ago. She took two off-duty coppers with
her, one of whom also bought one. When they got back to their car they
discovered they'd bought some nice looking laptop bags with a couple of
bags of sugar in each one. Not a nice way to lose 600 quid.

If I was spending that sort of money on something, I'd like to have a
look at the goods working first.

They did, but somewhere along the line, and right under their noses,
they both got switched. Even now, months later, they still can't see how
the two blokes there did the switch.

Crumbs.. That's nasty. Did they end up buying a new laptop, or a 2nd
hand one from a better source?

Sally bought a used one from a shop in the end. I haven't a clue what
her copper mate did, but he wasn't happy because he couldn't even report
    the scam.

I do feel sorry for people that get scamed like that, even coppers. I've
never felt the need to buy computers off some bloke down the pub...
Fools game imo. So is buying PC kit off Ebay.

Do you? Really? Going to buy stuff that they know to be stolen? I feel
    no sympathy whatsoever.

The end result is loosing lots of dosh through stupidity, and that's
just sad. I feel sorry for the person making the bad choice, completely
ignoring if it was stolen or not.

The "bad choice" was made before they handed over the cash.
