Had a request from an intrepid travller having his MOTless bike coming in
    on the RO-RO.

he needs an MOT station nearby so he can get taxed, I had a quick google
search and could not see any near.

    Any thoughts ?

I use Motorcycle Services (MCS) on Green Lane, Old Swan. About 15
    minutes (spirited) ride from Seaforth.

    HTH.

AFAIK, you can drive/ride as far as you like to get an MOT. Just need to
    make sure it's booked in.

Hmm, I believe it says somewhere about it being the "nearest" ?

    Or has that changed ?
Especially as they giy has no VED either, I ex[ect it is SORN'd. And he
    lives in Fife....... :)

PITA nowadays though, as you can ping numerous ANPR cameras. Whilst you
won't get done, it can cause delay if stopped by plod or engage you in an
interminable loop of correspondence on the finer points of SORN with the
    fuckwits in DVLA, Swansea

  8. You could ping an ANPR camera within a hundred yards of leaving the
port, though, so if this event happens, you might as well go for the
most convenient MoT station to you rather than the most convenient to
    the DVLA et al.

  9. Nope. They can't touch you for it either, as long as it's a genuine
appointment. So he could book an MoT in Fife and ride to it. It must be
a single journey, with no breaks - so an overnighter partway there is
    right out.

Just seen this...there is a garage in Seaforth that does bike MOT's,
it's not too far from the Seaforth flyover, it's a car place but can't
    recall the name of it.

Probably best to go to Mersey Motorcycles on Derby Road, tbh. Not much
    further than Seaforth.

When's he coming in, and does he need a hand in finding the place?

Its May, I presume he can find it, he seems to have managed to negotiate
    his way to Halifax. :)

I got the Divvy MOT'd there a few months ago (Mersey M/Cycles, not
Halifax!). He'll need to book and they ask that your number plate
    isn't taking the piss.
