Good point. Perhaps I'll stick it elsewhere. I still get 'fan mail' over that - mostly queries about when I'm doing something similar but the occasional hate-mail from some demented Swedes. p.s. while you're here ... can I provide links from a publicly available website I'm building to local files on an intranet? Obviously they'll only be available to people accessing the website from the LAN the intranet is on. I was thinking of having PHP only display the links if the target files were present. Sort of an CMS-based intranet over the web? This would save me building them a separate system to run locally (plus the added hassle of having to install PHP & MySQL on the LAN).
well, yes. nah, I'd base displaying the links on whoever's viewing the site - if they're capable of viewing the Intranet links, the domain of the person visiting the page will be an entry on your internal DNS, no?
