Just acquired an SPV C500 'cos I was impressed with yours.

Unfortunately I'm not having much luck importing my contacts. My Outlook
and T610 phone book bear no relation to each other and I've now ended up
with a fucking mess as my contacts on the C500.

Is there anyway of deleting 400+ contact entries in one fell swoop? If
there is I can't find it.

I have a vcf file (version 2.1 apparently) of all my previous phone book
entries sent from from my T610 and now residing on my laptop. Is there a
way of getting the C500 to import it?

Incidentally the Import Contacts Wizard doesn't.

I've got a manual and I've read it - it's just not very helpful.

I suspect I may have to bite the bullet and wade through all my Outlook
contacts adding phone numbers to contacts and adding the phone book
    entries that aren't already there.

There must be an easier way FFS. Outlook won't import the 325+ entries
held in this here Vcard file.

Hard reset the phone, then 'copy' onto the SIM should [1]clear it all. Then
    start again.

[1] Although with these new fangled smartphones I'm not entirely sure.

I have a Motorola mpx 200 which has the same operating system as the spv
c500 and I have a Sony p800 which has the same operating system as the t610
and i don't really have a problem with them.

do you have all the contacts in M$ Outlook on the computer?
if so it should just copy all the contacts when it syncs.
check in the syncs settings. it will do one of 3 things when copying
    contacts.
It will either replace all the contacts on the phone with all the contacts
    on the computer
Or it will replace all the contacts on the computer with all the contacts on
    the phone
or merge all of them on both

when it does the second one with a new phone you will loose all your
contacts on you computer (good fun)
when it does the last one it fucks up everything you end up with two of
    everything on both

Don't save them on the sim card as you loose some of the features of the
    phone
you can put a contact on the phone and add a few numbers and an address an
    email and a website

Or are you trying to sync them with each other via Bluetooth or infrared?

There are utilities for free ont'net which will batch process vcard files
into an outlook importable comma separated format. There is a way in
outlook of mapping fields to windoze address book field format during the
    import process.

    HTH and good luck.

Therein lies the problem. Neither do I want all the phone contacts on
    the computer and vice versa.

You can copy all the contacts off the phone on to the sim card but if you
have a couple of numbers and an address for one contact it will put all
    these as different contacts.
I'm not sure how many contacts a sim card will take (it used to be 99) but
when I did this transfer on mine there was to many

It did, thanks. I had to do it the tedious way and get my Outlook's
contacts house in order first. Oh well, it's done now.

Thanks again to those who offered suggestions.
