Paging racing types

  1. A friend of mine has got a racing frame in his back garden he (well,
his missus actually) wants shot of.

I can't say who made it but it is a custom build apparently and will
    "fit any inline four".

It's got the main framey bit, swingarm, rear shock and a big ****-off
petrol tank with two taps that weighs about as much as an apple[1]

If you're really interested I'll see if I can get some photos arranged
but it is in Scaynes Hill in Sussex and he wants £100 for it.

[1] Obviously it is heavier than this but it weighs about half that of a
    Bandit tank.

The phrases "custom made" and "will fit any inline four" seem mutually
exclusive to me. Have you any idea of the difference i size and shape
    betweenm, say, a a 70s air-cooled Z1000 motor and an R6 engine?
To be honest, without knowing a) who made it (Spondon?, Harris? Egli?
P&M? Moto Martin? etc) and what it was made for, it's completely
    worthless.

  3. Which leads nicely into "I'll take it off your hands for a fiver..."

I have but he doesn't. He left it there for a mate who was going to
"collect it later" and never did. Now mate says he can do what he wants
    with it.
I did ask at the time but he said he didn't know. It looks like it'll
fit a litre engine to me but I'll get back to him and see what he says.

I'm not getting anything out of it except a warm glow if it goes so if
you're/any one you know is vaguely interested I can pass you on the
    number.

    Cheers. Just an updatette:

Maker as yet unknown but it has got mainframe (oil in frame apparently
if that helps), swingarm, gear and brake linkages tanks, seat and a
    front wheel.

What it needs is engine, back wheel, chain and sprockets.

Once I know the maker I'll bung that up as well and do a post to
    motoforum and derby-phoenix.

    Cheers.

Neither DEC, nor HP have ever made a mainframe. Not a 'proper' one.

    Nigel Eaton says...
VAX 10000 was sold as a mainframe and the DECsystems 2020's as well IIRC.
