    ^^^^^^^^

    <wince>

    That word almost certainly doesn't mean what you (and, it seems, half
    the BBC's reporters) think it does.

    Well Websters gives, as definition 3 of 4, "The quality or state of being
    huge", which seems pretty close to what Power Grainger (and the BBC) are
    trying to get across.

    Good ged, so does the OED (more or less)!.

    Well, there y'go. You live and learn, eh? I'd always thought that usage
    was incorrect.

    Websters has a special message for you ... "Usage: Enormity, some people
    insist, is improperly used to denote large size. They insist on enormousness
    for this meaning, and would limit enormity to the meaning "great
    wickedness." Those who urge such a limitation may not recognize the subtlety
    with which enormity is actually used."

    I think that Websters is saying that you're their bitch now.
