Paging potential European Tourists (Ginge, Porl, Ace, etc)

Further to some recent discussion...

I plan to ttend a mate's 50th birthday party in the Dordogne on the
9th/10th July. The following weekend is the Chimay Road Races, and it
seems foolish to come back across the channel just to head out again
for the following weekend. And I've got lots of holiday to use, too.

So, if any of you guys are up for a bit of riding around France then,
I'm sure we can arrange to hook up. If not, then I'll do my own
thing, mebbe pop in to say hi at Chez Ace before heading to Chimay.

I'd deffo be interested in popping over that way and perhaps doing the
Auverge area in between en-route back to mine. Depending on time one
could even pop down and do a couple of days in the Pyrenees.

When would you be wanting to get to Chimay? And does this mean you'd
be on the turbo?

I've not been to Chimay before, so dunno what the SP is. Question for
the Chimayistes - do people turn up on the Thursday, Friday or
Saturday?

Nah - I'd ride it to Chimay and back with like minded idiots, but not
solo across the length of France. And, apart from anything else, the
gixxer is more fun on the sort of roads we'll be looking at. It's a
shame, cos I wanted to take the turbo to Chimay.

 

Yes, I was going to book that week and do something. Count me in I'll
book the week off now.

Firstly, I'll get on to my mate and see how he feels about
gatecrashers to his party. He's pretty laid back, so I'd be surprised
if it's a problem. It'll save the hassle of me having to disappear
for a day or two.

I've just dropped off the engine(s) with my man Kevin and, *fucking*
irritatingly, still can't find the spare turbo. I also need to get hold
of some Wiseco rings for it.

It looks like the Guzzi, as ever, will be pressed into action. If I said
anything about going on an MZ please ignore that bit.

As to the Chimay score I think there's a hotel somewhere in France
hosting a "these are my friends from the internet" evening with an
early-ish thrash to Belgium Saturday morning. This is what we did last
year.

I'm catching the Zeebrugge/Rosyth ferry on Sat 16th so could go via
Chimay (if I've found the right place on the map ... Chimay is in
Belgium, south of Charleroi, near the French border ?).

OK, I'm booking 11th through to 19th so depending on your weekend plans
we could alternatively meet up somewhere on the Monday.

 

I was thinking that the rest of us could meet somewhere else and hook
up with Champ after his party. Although if his mate doesn't mind a few
of us and has sufficient crash space...

I'm sure he won't mind a few, tho I will check. However, I think he's
got loads turning up from all over, so it might be a matter of camping
in the garden. [I'll have a tent for Chimay, I spose. Bit of a pain,
that]. Or I'm sure there's a local Chambre D'Hote we could use.
