Do you happen to know or would be able to find out who's guilty of
creating the crazy frog, cute chick and little green dragon in the
ringtone ads? I forming a plan involving flesh-eating bugs sulphuric
acid and chinese burns. Shooting is to good from them.

No, haven't a clue. But might I suggest the mute button on the remote
control? I find it enhances the "viewing experience".

I tried that, but when I see it even glancing from the edge of my
vision I seem to develop spasms of rage. Snowy's firebombing
recommendation sounds like a good idea though.

  7. I'm so pleased it's not just me that finds these "things" so annoying
and pointless. Does anyone with a semblance of sanity actually load
    this things on their phones?

Still you've got the great excitement of the Crazy Frog getting to
Number 1 in the pop charts with his version of "ring a ding ding" Axel F
    ;-)

In my own small way, I fight against such excesses. My message alert
is a short beep and a vibration rumble, my call alert a longer single
beep and a double buzz. Loud, mind - but brief.
Are they still running 'pop charts'?

Anyway, I do a much better two-stroke chicken.

  12. Does that comment apply to Peter T as well or is it just me getting the
    condescending Champ lectures this weekend?

The point is quite simple: they're an artificial market created to allow
(aside from making money) the 'young adults' [1] to express their
individuality; sense of humour or connection, and therefore sense of
    self: by being different.

This is slightly undone because the 'young adults' all choose the same
one. In the same way the mainstream 'young adults' as punks, mods or
skins all took to the same basic uniform.

This also similar to chaps in offices who wear comedy socks or ties,
they're no more individual or different; less so even as they're all
    wankers but I digress.

[1] Name the fictional television program.

I think it's not so much about being truly individual, but more about
being different from their parents generation. With punks et al, at
least half of it was about tribalism and belonging to a group. The
other half was distancing oneself from one's parents.

Fighting against the mores and conventions of the previous generation
is an essential part of growing up.
Curses - I remember it quite clearly, but can't name it. Was a sketch
    on NTNoCN, wasn't it?
