  1. Someone appears to have hijacked your Ebay account.

You're bidding on the Honda 400 Four I'm selling

    Item no. 4649670202

Don't tell me this is your intended Chimay transport?

No, don't worry. This is for the Binliner project, but it won't be ready in
time, and I've got a passenger anyway. I'll be VFRing it to Chimay.

  3. bwahahaha!

mind, probably more likely to get there than the Morini...

I really must try to accumulate enough pennies to "do" Chimay one year. Got
a plan for a top-end rebuild on the SOBoxer this winter (it's smoking and
rattling a bit, and down on power), so mebbe next year.

The nice thing about Chimay is that it's ridiculously cheap. Ferry -
I've got a crossing for £30 return this year. Maybe 125-130 miles'
riding the other side, each way. Entry ticket for the whole weekend is
    15 euros: £11 or thereabouts.

Beer is a major expense, mind.

  5. yeah, and then there's the cost of getting to the ferry... what're you doing
about accommodation, and is there scope for dossing within tent?

Nothing wrong with the patch of grass behind Platy's tent. Or there
    wasn't last year.....

I managed to avoid using them last year. The cafe where we went for
breakfast has proper loos, but is a good half hour walk away. Or three
minutes on the back of a CBX.

I remember the look on your face, as you returned from the thunderbox in
the middle of the camping field..... You muttered something along the
lines of: "how *do* they get it that high?"
I'm not sure Madame was amused, Monday morning, mind....... ;-)

Not biting. Anyway, if you could be bothered to join the queue in the
infield, the permanent bogs were perfectly acceptable.

  12. I've seen that at various rally site bogs. The last few feckers must've
    been hanging from the roof.

I've not done classics before and my only other Honda was a fairly recent
one, but I quite fancy that 400x4 having looked it up actually. I won't be
bidding against you though. I like it in the distant "I could go for that"
    sense.

Having said that even wierder was walking past a 'Busa and somewhat fancying
one of those as well, which is a bit disturbing and I really can't work out
what would make me think that in hindsight.

400 Fours are wonderful little bikes, cute and nippy.
Just because you like one type of bike doesn't mean you can't like another
    type. It's perfectly normal.

I am sure they are lovely. I have only ever heard anything but praise about
them. I think I will wait for my custom bike to be well completed before I
contemplate taking on board a rebuild. I think a rebuild would be somewhat
easier than thinking up a bike from scratch though.
Phew. Thats a relief. Standby treatment teams to amber alert.
I think its the aesthetics that in hindsigh concerns me though, but it might
be a bad colour combo on an ebay auction which is no point of comparison.
Its not the worst looking bike but I can see how some might have issues with
    its styling.
I think the Busa looks best all in black and without the nobbly rear pillion
cover though, like this one, which is probably a better example.

The bogs at Santa Pod were like that back in the eighties.
Basically a brick tank with a row of seats bolted on.

  17. Nothing, but nothing, but nothing ever beat the Bol d'Or bogs in the
    early to mid-1980s.

They'd block and back up and overflow. Raw sewage would pour out of the
doorway of the block which also housed the showers. You'd be showering
in what you thought was inch-deep water on the floor, until a Richard
    would float under the partition.

I remember looking up, and there was even a turd on the ceiling, FFS,
dangling like a sludgy Sword of Damocles.

The cleaning squad used to wear full protective suits and breathing
    apparatus. Honest.
