"He bought a GoldWing." seems to be the biking equivalent of that old US
WWII expression "He bought the farm."

Hope it never happens to me... :)

The Older Gentleman was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Well, these were only available in orange or grey - I was referring to
    the R100S ....
Might be - someone might have swapped over a tank and side panels
from a smoked green RT and have the nose painted accordingly.
Aye, and the finish is a pain to blend in if you need to get a partial
respray. Problem is, at least the smoke effect has been applied by
hand, so it's somewhat uneven. Plus AFAIK the orange (or grey) is a
candy colour, and not many spray monkeys use them on a regular
basis. Needless to say, Candy paint requires a certain amount of
practise to apply and is rather expensive to boot.

From what I remember the German 90S nutters get theirs repainted by an
outfit in the Netherlands, as they're appearantly the only ones to do
it 'properly' if you want a concours bike. I can't quite remember how
much the job costs, but we're talking rather more than a grand for the
tank, sidepanels, nosecone and seat surround...

  4. On holiday a couple of months ago (Ikaria, Greece) I came across a 1956
single cylinder BMW, beatifully kept. I have a photo if anyone would
like to see it, sorry I can't be arsed to put it on a webpage even
supposing I could be bothered to learn how.
