    I fear that word doesn't mean what you think it means - actually,
    "palava" doesn't exist, you're thinking of "palaver" wich means
    wibbling on, not struggling through an apparently nonsensically
    tortuous method to get nearer to your goal.

    Then, of course, there's pavlova, but that's part of a separate
    course.

    Really? Are you sure? My old mum, and her mum now I come to think of
    it, always used to say "what a palaver" if something was
    involved/complicated/tortuous.
