Didn't you mention that your brother was working as a tree surgeon in
Kent? Any idea if the area he works in covers Ashford?

Oh, and while you're there Phil, can you assist with some year 7 RS
homework. I maintain that "Baptism" is not just a Christian thing and
is found in many religions. I mean, John The Baptist wasn't a fucking
    Christian was he!

There is no comparable 'thing' in Judaism.

True. In Christianity they merely douse you with water as a baptism,
but some barbaric cultures and religions mutilate part of a very young
baby's cock and then get some old pedophile to suck the blood instead.
It's all the same thing really.

Rather similar though, as a ritual. What I mean is that the symbolism
is there with immersion in water as part of a religious ceremony.

Just to add: Jesus Christ was named after the act of christening, not vice
versa, i.e. people were christened (anointed with chrism) before Christ was
    ever heard of.

Baptism is (AFAIK) done once, and sort of 'welcomes' the brat into the
fold. The mikveh is 'purification', and is done several times or when
required (after contact with a dead person, at the end of a woman's
periods etc..). But in no way does _not_ doing it, impact on a person's
    Jewishness.

But doesn't 'baptism' also represent purification? I'm thinking of the
Catholic Church and their stance on babies dying without being
baptised and therefore not being 'forgiven' of original sin.

I'm also arguing that the launching of a ship is a type of baptism.

    Bzzzzt! Wrong!

Christ comes from the Greek word that means "anointed one" e.g. Messiah.
