ISTR you're something of a knowledgeable person on Celtic languages.
What are your thoughts on this one?

    (work safe, but probably boring)

Apart from the obvious fact that the bloke seems to be a complete
    arse, of course...

  2. That and:

No extant sources of Cumbric (as far as I know) so he's essentially
    making it up[1]

Most of the people in his target group won't care and will think he
    needs to get a life..

He is viewing the past through rose-tinted glasses so strong that they
appear to block out reality - "the Cumbrians in the time of Arthur were
the best horsemen of the age". This is attested to where?

In other words - he's as loopy as a fruitcake.

    Phil.

[1] Unlike (say) Cornish where there are good records of the various
phases of the language. The amount of reconstruction needed was small
and the main arguement was about which era of Cornish to revive to..

Well the clue's in the article ...

"Because no records exist of the Cumbric language, he spent years studying
Celtic history and concluded it was similar to northern Welsh."

He might as well have learned fucking Klingon - at least that way other
    people would speak it.

No, Cumbrian women today don't have wrinkles at 34. The hair is
pulled back so tight their faces are in a permanent stretched grimace.
